Ultrafast coupling interaction in organized molecular ultrathin films

چکیده
Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of arachidic acid (AA, CH3(CH2)18COOH) at the glass/air interface are investigated by sum-frequency generation (SFG) vibrational spectroscopy. The newly identified band at 2818 cm−1 in LB films has been attributed to a soft mode of the C-H vibration induced by the interaction (coupling) with the rest of the molecule near the glass substrate. The coherent responses of the CH3 stretching vibration in LB films and self-assembled monolayer (SAM) films of octadecanethiol (ODT, CH3(CH2)17SH) on gold are also studied by the free-induction decay (FID) method. The pure dephasing time T2 obtained for the first time for the LB film is ∼3.2 ps, which is fairly long, reflecting the methyl group coupled with the rest of the molecule near the glass substrate. The short dephasing time of ∼1 ps obtained for the SAM film mainly represents the relaxation time of the lattice phonon of gold film.

متن کاملUltrafast Luminescence Decay in Rhenium(I) Complexes with Imidazo[4,5-f]-1,10-Phenanthroline Ligands: TDDFT Method
The interpretation of the ultrafast luminescence decay in [Re(Br(CO)3(N^N)] complexes as a new group of chromophoric imidazo[4,5-f]-1,10-phenanthroline ligands, including 1,2-dimethoxy benzene, tert-butyl benzene (L4) and 1,2,3-trimethoxy benzene, tert-butyl benzene (L6), was studied. Fac-[Re(Br(CO)3L4 and L6] with different aryl groups were calculated in singlet and triplet excited states. The...
متن کاملSurface lattice vibration and electron–phonon interaction in Pb(111) ultrathin superconducting films from first principles: both with and without Si substrate
The lattice vibration and electron–phonon (EP) coupling of three types of Pb ultrathin films were calculated from first principles. For free-standing films, our calculations showed that softening and stiffening of the surface phonons coexist. The obtained EP coupling λ and the superconducting transition temperature TC are smaller than their bulk values. For (1× 1)-Pb/Si(111) films, the obtained...

In previous work, one of us calculated the Solvation force of hard ellipsoid fluid with hard Gaussian overlap potential using hard needle wall interaction and non-linear equation proposed by Grimson- Rickyazen. In present work, using density functional theory and extended restricted orientation model, the solvation force of hard ellipsoid fluid in presence of more realistic rod- sphere and rod-...
متن کاملElectron and lattice dynamics of transition metal thin films observed by ultrafast electron diffraction and transient optical measurements
We report the ultrafast dynamics of electrons and lattice in transition metal thin films (Au, Cu, and Mo) investigated by a combination of ultrafast electron diffraction (UED) and pump-probe optical methods. For a single-crystalline Au thin film, we observe the suppression of the diffraction intensity occuring in 10 ps, which direcly reflects the lattice thermalization via the electron-phonon i...
